Maicon, Amauri and Polga: three Brazilian stars ready to shine in Iași

Among the players set to take part in Football World, several Brazilian football legends stand out. Who are they? Let’s find out together.

Maicon: the Brazilian Colossus

Maicon Douglas Sisenando, known simply as Maicon, is considered one of the best full-backs of his generation. Nicknamed The Colossus for his physical strength and defensive skills, he played for Inter Milan from 2006 to 2012, playing a key role in the club’s legendary Treble victory in 2010.

With the Brazilian national team, he won two Copa América titles and two Confederations Cups.

Amauri: from Palermo to Juventus, a striker of quality

Born in 1980, Amauri de Oliveira is a Brazilian forward known in Italy as Calimero, where he spent much of his career. A powerful and fast centre-forward, he distinguished himself for his technical ability and finishing.

After short spells at Parma, Napoli, and Piacenza, he moved to Palermo in 2006, where he truly made his mark: in just two seasons, he scored 23 goals, helping the team qualify for the UEFA Cup.

In 2008, he transferred to Juventus, where he played for three seasons.

Polga: A World Champion in defence

A defensive powerhouse, Ânderson Polga spent most of his career with Sporting CP in Portugal, where he won two domestic cups and two Super Cups.

He earned his first call-up to the Brazilian national team at the age of 23, and just a few months later was selected for the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, where he became a World Champion.

These and many other stars will take part in the Ronaldinho and Friends football show in Iași on November 29.
